I’m not a huge concert goer, but I went to another one Saturday at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA. with my music lover. Many bands performed at the No Depression Festival, which has a huge following. Reej and I both thought The Swell Season were the best and they really were fantastic.
Here is a bit from NPR that I love listening to. I love Glen’s Irish accent, don’t you? The last song in the above video is one of my favorites. And their voices together are perfect harmonies. I don’t think you can find another two that sound more perfect together than they do.

This is a photograph taken at the concert that night. Take notice of Glen’s guitar and how worn it is. This guy can jam and when you see him live, it’s no wonder that he wears holes in his guitars! He even broke a string on his guitar that night and instead of switching guitars he just involved the audience in a sing-a-long while he performed a busker (a new word I learned that night) trick getting his string knotted and tuned once again. They are absolutely awesome…highly recommended…and if you get the chance to see them play, do not pass it up.
If you’re not familiar with The Swell Season the second song in the above clip, Low Rising, is one of their newest releases and may sound familiar to you. Here is the video for the song below.
And if you’re still not familiar with The Swell Season, go rent and watch the movie Once. It’s sort of a modern day musical of two characters recording songs for an album and falling in love.
They both won an Oscar Award for best original song, Falling Slowly, which they both wrote for the movie.
Enjoy the music everyone!
