A couple weekends ago I heard about The Sketchbook Project.
I wasn’t so sure at first whether or not I wanted to sign up because it’s the end of the year and the project is due just after the holidays and this time of year just starts to get more and more chaotic in my life as the end of the year gets closer.
But then I saw they would be touring and one of the stops is in Seattle, June 10th through the 12th, 2011, and that really peaked my interest. So I signed up and chose my theme, which was difficult to choose from. I managed to decide on “Capture The Flag”.
I’m still awaiting my Moleskine Cahier sketchbook and details in the mail, which gives me time to brainstorm some ideas. So, do you have any ideas or suggestions for me? Has anyone else signed up for The Sketchbook Project too? If so, please do share. I’ll do my best to share here how things are going with the project once I get started.
Newsweek Magazine came out with a list this summer of the top 20 high schools in the country.
My high school alma mater, Interlake High School, is # 13. Wow! Congratulations IHS!!! Go Saints!!! I’m not sure what it would have ranked when I attended back in the day, but it’s wonderful to hear how well they’re doing today.
Hmmm…maybe this news will get my siblings and some of my old friends to move back home. I know if my child was high school age I’d consider saying, “Move on over, Mom, I’m comin’ home!”
If you care about schools and education go see this movie, Waiting for Superman.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Dad lately, so in his memory I play a couple videos for you today. I found the below clip on this blog.
A while ago, on a weekend morning, I sat down with breakfast on my couch, turned on the telly and saw this:
Tanning is out. In fact, when you are tan or have a sun burn, that’s your body reacting to the sun rays developing melanin in order to protect the skin and tissue deep underneath from getting damaged. But sometimes it does, sometimes that melanin turns to melanoma. Let’s face it, a sun tan, freckles, sun spots, a.k.a. age spots, sun burns…they’re all signs of damaged skin.
